Jessica Glitterati & a promise I am making to myself

Jessica Glitterati  is a dense iridescent glitter, it is mainly copper/gold/red, with a strong green/yellow colour shift ( yes, i copied most of that from here). What i liked most about this polish is that at two coats, the glitter disbursement was perfect, meaning I didn't have to fill in any areas that didn't have enough glitter. I will definitely need 2 to 3 coats of Top Coat with this..... It was a bumpy finish after 1 thick coat of TC. I layered this over 1 perfect coat of Wet n Wild Black Creme.

The promise I am making to myself is to not pay more than $3.99 CAD per bottle of polish for an as-yet-un-defined amount of time.  I have kept myself in check over the years by purchasing the bulk of my polishes from the dollar stores and sticking to N.Y.C., Wet n Wild, Sally Hansen X-treme wears etc, these are brands that are easily accessible to me, and can usually be found for under 5 bucks each. These are kick-ass brands with a gazillion beautiful polishes, I have many of these polishes and have dozens more on my to purchase list.

There is over 200 bottles of polish waiting for me in stores that are under the price point of $3.99 CAD. My list of polishes to purchase grows almost every week, There seems to be an endless supply of beautiful in-expensive polish, with new colours and beautiful finishes showing up at discount department stores and drug stores every week.

Why am I sharing this with you? Because I want a record of me stating that I CAN and WILL keep myself in check and try to only purchase polishes that are $3.99 CAD or less & only share things on my blog that reflect that  price point.

In the future I hope to ONLY share polishes/mani's with products that are $3.99 CAD or less,  and try to share products that have a price point of $5.00 CAD or less. I am a huge fan of off-beat dollar-store nail polishes and products. I plan to only purchase and model nail polishes and nail related products that can be found in Canada for $3.99 or less.

This doesn't include multi-bottle nail polish sets, top coat, stamping plates.... etc, stuff like that. It doesn't mean I will never order stuff on-line; just that I will try not to - even though I really, really, REALLY want to. I want to try and be happy and satisfied with things that I can purchase in a real brick and mortar store. So far I have stuck to this (  for almost 2 years!!!!! ) and I know I can maintain this and achieve my goals.

Whew! I probably need a better worded personal nail polish purchasing mission statement that is , but whatever. I wrote it down and I wish to stick to it.

I found this lovely Jessica polish, along with is equally glitter packed blue brother, Platinum Wishes at Winners in Wpg for $6.99. Winners is a Canadian store like T.J. Maxx that has a mish-mash of 'designer' products for less. They had quite a selection of polish's at the time I found this, some Nubar, and lots of KleanColor multi sets of polish.. I left the blue iridescent glitter and only picked up this one ( proud!!!! ) I think I will get alot of use from this polish for fall 2013.

This is the best part of this polish..... in dark or weird lighting the iridescent glitter pieces do their best work!

I couldnt get my camera to pick up the green flashes from this polish

2 Essence polish's & My Kleancolor Chunky Black holo is actually Red....

It's not true! Nail Polish is for life = not 12 months!

Here are two lovely polish's from Essence Color & Go. Both of these applied perfectly. I love these cute little bottles and how the caps match the polish.

This is 3 coats of Walk on the Wild side and 2 coats of KleanColor Chunky Holo Clover..... I totally expected the KleanColor to dry satin-ey or matte but it dried to a shiny finish.

..... and a few more photos of Essence Walk on the Wild side.

Essence Chic Reloaded is a very pretty multi chrome.....  I took a gazillion photos and could not capture all the beautiful colours this polish flashes.  This is two easy coats. I love how this polish applied and hope the rest of the shades in this collection have the same formula.

For comparison, below is 2 coats each of  Essence Where's the Part, Chic Reloaded and Wet n Wild Greys Anatomy. Wet n Wild Greys Anatomy is an extremely sheer polish and looks better layered over something.

I picked up this KleanColor holo mini's at Winners ( T.J.Maxx ) around X-mas time. For 4.99, these are a good deal. They are pretty much the same polish save for the Chunky black holo, and the pink shade which has the most notable hot pink jelly base, the rest of the polish's have a similar glitter and are only different in that they have slightly tinted jelly bases.

I planned on layering Chunky Holo Black over Essence Chic Reloaded but it turned the base colour purple.... instead of a darker polish shade like I had hoped.... oh well.

below; a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better photo from Beauty Joint's website ( they have excellent product photos )

My 'Chunky Holo Black' has a red base...... its not black ~ I'm still happy with it !

Fanny Z Gold Zebra

I am calling this Fanny Z # 83 polish 'Whoa' because it is a beautiful shimmery blue that made me say 'whoa'! This is 2 coats, and some gold zebra stripes with a franken stripe polish I made ( it's really just Claire's 24 Karat in a stripe bottle ) I chose not to use the obvious silver colour of stripe polish and instead went for a metallic gold. I think this turned out lovely. I am still working on the thickness of my stripes.......

I don't own anything to compare this polish color and finish to: has anyone else spotted these Fanny Z dollar store nail polish's?

  1 coat & 2 coats

P.C. chipotle dipping sauce changed my life...........!!!!.

Double French Tips?

Here's a mani from a  few months ago.... I wasn't totally happy with the darker purple colour that I chose, but because blogger isn't working for me and I cannot upload all the photos I want to I'll post this instead. I started with a base of Billie Cosmetics in Turquois ( lol )  - I let it dry then affixed thin tape to my nails and added 2 coats of Billie Cosmetics Mauve ( lol ). I should have done a better job and added more coats of Mauve, or at least filled in some of the bare spots.  When everything felt dry I removed the tape and added 1 coat of top coat......

Next time I will use a more opaque polish and more than one coat of TC.

Stuff I used - Billie Cosmetics Turquois and Billie Cosmetics Mauve ( lol at those names )

space!

This nail art is a little un-eventful -is that a real word? I started with a base of a no-name Bonita nail polish that I fpund at a randon dollar store in Wpg...... then sponged on Wet n Wild Grey's Anatomy and Billie Plutonium Plum I swiped on a coat of Klean Colors Chunky Holoe Glitter. As an afterthought I sponged on  Billie Mauve which dried matte, this was a good contrast to the shiny finish left by the Klean Color glitter.... No Top Coat. I tried to dot on a few planets.... but they barely showed up.

I'm really digging the matte polish that I sponged on, it adds alot of depth to these 'space' nails.

The first coat of this Bonita polish was sheer..... I needed 4 coats for opacity.....

.... and before it dried I totally marred my nails - so i definitly needed some nail art to disguise the damage

stuff I used......

Wet n Wild I need a Refreshmint nail art

Thanks for all the kind words on yesterdays mani - - - that look is my go-to mani when I am in a hurry and it always turns out perfectly - - - -there is nothing a little glitter can't fix!!!!!

I'm not sure what to call this type of nail art..... its a bunch of intesecting lines...... not quite plad, just random lines. this was supe- duper easy to do -untill I got ot my thumb nail on my left hand -THE BRISTLES FELL OUT OF MY BLUE CREME NAIL ART STRIPE POLISH..... so the stripes on that nail are much wide then the rest of my nails..... oh well, i am not sure how to fix that, they just pulled out of the brush!

This mani is 2 coats of wet n' Wild I need a Refresh-Mint, then a bunch of lines using LA Colors stripe polish in Sea Foam Green, and a no-name blue stripe polish that I found at The Bargain Shop in Wpg.  I added a thick coat of Pro-FX top coat to smoothe out all the texture.

I like how this turned out but hope that next time I try this my lines are a little thinner overall......
